2.16ct Faint Yellow "Dramatic" Radiant Cut Diamond
THE DIAMOND
Here's an interesting part of grading diamonds....... To do it properly requires a detachment from the "romance" of diamonds. Instead, grading requires more of a clinical examination.
Although I can easily see the differences in the colors and clarity- I have always looked at the diamonds with no subjective value judgments. When I was learning to grade, an imperfection in the diamond was actually quite desirable. They made grading more interesting. So, I would not necessarily think an SI2 was "worse" than a VVS1.
When I first learned to grade, at the "diamond school" the rules were strict. Those involved with the grading of the diamonds knew nothing about the pricing. At least at my level ( peon)
Same for me with color. Sure, a colorless diamond was great- but when they had a little yellow, I liked them just as much.
Fast forward a few ( million) years, and now I have to understand the pricing. Gone are the halcyon days when I'd be handed an order, and told to fill it. "HEY YOU- pick 10,000 two point diamonds, grade 56b, on the double". WAIT that was no fun at all.
Anyway, today the price of a diamond is something I need to keep in mind. Let's remember that many a 2 carat diamond has a price tag well over $20k- and 2carat plus diamonds under 9K are pretty rare indeed.
The one part of the grading which was subjective was the cut. A well cut diamond always looked amazing to me- even if it had a honking imperfection- while a badly cut one looked ugly even if it was totally clean.
I love diamonds like this one, because no matter how well cut, they are, the diamond business just does not take them seriously.

It's among the lower priced 2 carat diamonds because it's not white, nor is it very yellow. The strong blue fluorescence is no detraction at all on this guy. It makes the diamond almost chameleon-like.

This guy has very dramatic corners for a radiant cut.

More on this Dramatic Diamond
CLARITY
SI1- the imperfection is totally hidden in a corner. The diamond is eye clean.
CUT
This is an extremely well cut diamond. The reason I call it a "dramatic" radiant is the corners.
They are large.
In my mind, a good thing. The diamond looks large for it's weight
Graded O-P Color by GIA, this diamond is faint yellow
in many indoor lighting situations- but sometimes looks almost colorless. It's always great looking
At 2.16carats, it's a sizable diamond.
Incredibly reasonable!
Our Semi Mount Store
We recommend buying your
diamond and ring from the same seller. There are many reasons for
this. For one thing, you have one company to be held responsible
for the quality of your entire product.
We can sell our semi-mount
rings at a substantially lower price than we could if semi-mount rings
were our only business. Generally speaking, every time we sell a
semi-mount, we are selling the diamond that is going in the center.
Therefore we can afford to offer a super high quality product at a far
lower price could find from a company selling only semi mount rings.
Potential Ring Choices
Our rings are all "Made To
Order". Some are fully custom made. Our less expensive rings are
made from parts, selected with an extremely critical eye from commercial
casting suppliers. Meticulous attention to detail, thoughtful design, experienced
craftspeople - all contribute to the superb quality of the rings we
produce. Let us make one just for you.
