This is one of those stones that "grabs you"- it did me, the instant I saw it.

First of all, there's the color- which is so very close to Vivid Yellow- it's bright yellow. Add this to the remarkable cut- which produces incredibly substantial sparkle- especially considering the depth of color.

As I asked above- is this an oval? GIA says yes, it is.

I could have sworn it was a cushion- of course we defer to GIA, who calls it an oval. The cutter chose to go for a color only report- we are considering sending it back in to get the full report. Certainly there's no clarity issue, it's a clean stone.

I chalk up his decision on some inexperience in the US market- the stone was cut in Israel, and the cutter has not (yet) sold a lot of diamonds here in the US of A. Looking at the  quality of cut- and how he used this rough, I'm sure he'll be getting a lot more familiar with the US market- I know we'll be carrying more of his stones.
