Here's some of the things we look for in a desirable Vivid Yellow diamond- and the order of their importance.
1) It must posses an overall liveliness- and lots of sparkle.
2) Next we look at the color. Purity and intensity. Some diamonds that garner a GIA grade of Fancy Vivid Yellow can be brassy.
3) If it sparkles well, and the color seems pure, we whip out the loupe- checking for the finer points of the diamond's cut
4) If we've gotten this far without seeing any eye visible imperfections, we're on a good track.
Here's an interesting fact: Many people shop for diamonds based on the assumption an Internally Flawless is better than an Si1- period.
A faulty assumption. Here's why: If numbers 1,2 & 3 are not there, clarity means little. This is true for diamonds of any color. But in the case of a Vivid, a diamond can have an impossible to see naked eye feather which might be easily visible in an H color.
HOW DOES THIS DIAMOND SCORE?
Number 1: The diamond has awesome brilliance
Number 2: A very pure and beautiful yellow- well darker and more...vivid than any intense you might see. The diamond is clearly a vivid
Number 3- Cut- this diamond has a great cut- not only the aforementioned life and sparkle- the stone has great visual presence- with good size for it's weight
OVERALL OUTLOOK....the stone passes with flying colors. A pure vibrant yellow. The smallest glimmer of light ignites a bright yellow beam

CLARITY
VS2 - The ring ships with the original GIA report. This report plots the stone's miniscule inclusion. To see them you will need a loupe and some pretty sharp eyes. The imperfection is a small "white "feather" in a totally unobtrusive spot, near corner of the diamond. It's totally eye clean.

CUT
Cut for great brilliance. You can see from the pictures that it is cut well. I like the nice corners which set up a lot of sparkle throughout the diamond.
Incredibly Yellow. Bright Yellow.

Looking at the chart below, you'll see that vivid yellow is well above "D" in terms of price- it's not for the faint of pocketbook.
THIS RING WAS MADE FOR THE DIAMOND
For those spending thousands on a diamond, experience in setting is vital. if the ring is not comfortable you can't enjoy the diamond.
If the ring is bulky it's more likely to catch on things- our rings are safer for the stones, and your fine silks for this reason.
We have tremendous experience setting Vivid Yellow diamonds.
Over the past 7 years we've build thousands of "three stone rings". As of this writing we have 79 three stone rings listed on our eBay store- Diamonds by Lauren. We chose half moons for this vivid - they seem to go very well together.

The stones are perfectly placed. You can't see any metal around any of them.
The ring is solid platinum made to be worn for many years of trouble free enjoyment. Substantial prongs that manage to be unobtrusive. Not catchy.
Our rings are made to be worn- they are graceful, yet heavy duty.
